Position Updates - 1 Calendar, 2 Condors

Written on June 24, 2008 by OptionsRopeaDope

My open positions… Overall, actually up 1%, despite the drop today, which hurt my calendar.

I’ll be opening up more positions tomorrow.

IWM Calendar - 72 July/Aug

RRDelta 22%
RRGamma -13%
RRVega 18%

Delta/Theta = 4.4

1 Day 1 Std Dev Move (.93 points)

Wow, down 4.5% already… and looking a little ill. Still a solid trade, willing to adjust at a moment’s notice.

IWM Iron Condor - July 61/63 Puts, 79/81 Calls

RRDelta 4%
RRGamma -4%
RRVega -4%

Delta/Theta = 1.53

1 Day 1 Std Dev Move (.91 points)

Up 5% over the last 2 weeks, still right in the middle. Short call is at 4, short put at 9. Looking strong, nice and wide. Might try to close out the call wing (!). Great position to be in.

QQQQ Iron Condor - July 41/42 Puts, 51/52 Calls

RRDelta -2%
RRGamma -13%
RRVega -8%

Delta/Theta = -.5

1 Day 1 Std Dev Move (.64 points)

Short call is at 8, short put at 10. Fine, esp since the put was at 11 when I opened, thinking it was safe :) Up 1%, but a tighter range than IWM. Why is Gamma so sick? Hmmm… shouldn’t be this high for the next few weeks. ( Theoretically, I could be a fifth of the way to my max loss with a 2 std dev move?) Something to worry about? I’m thinking it is a little out of wack, and the actual behavior of the options will fall in line.
